We Are the Gehrlich family
Our family of five lives in a small town just outside of Athens, GA. We love to be outside and have several dogs that our children love to play with. When we purchased our Australian Labradoodles we knew we had found a unique family pet that so many families could fall in love with! The five of us work together to take care of and socialize the puppies that we raise and we love sharing our personable little australian labradoodle puppies with other loving families!
why are australian labradoodles (AlD's) different from AUSSIEDOODLES?
Australian Labradoodles originated in the early 1980's in Australia. The goal in breeding these pups, was to create a breed that was as hypoallergenic as possible, while also being so intelligent and easygoing that they could be registered and trained as service dogs. The eventual outcome was a genetic blending between a poodle, labrador and cocker spaniel. These three main breeds combine to produce an intelligent, energetic, trainable, easygoing dog.
An Aussiedoodle, on the other hand, is the combination of an Australian Shephard and a Poodle. This particular combination produces an extremely high energy dog, with a strong drive to run, jump and herd.
These two breeds have very separate and distinct purposes and ideal family lifestyles.
What makes an australian labradoodle a good family pet?
Australian Labradoodles have been specifically bred to be as hypoallergenic as possible and anecdotally many people with dog allergies can have these sweet babies as pets. Australian labradoodle puppies are extremely loyal with enough energy for kids, but also laid back enough to cuddle on the couch on a rainy day.
The breed comes in three sizes: miniature, medium and standard. Our current breeding females fall into the miniature category, which we feel like is an ideal size for a family!
